This advertisement recorded a day in the life of a Cathay Pacific cabin crew. It is very popular on YouTube because it reveals the hidden life of the cabin crew which is not easily shown in the public, and that's the main reason to get people interested.
When the Standing Committee of the National People's congress announced its decision on rejecting Hong Kong residents to elect their Chief Executive in a true democracy way, it has provoked storms of protest in the society. This photo showed the scenario of the Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong, captured by a news reporter in Apple Daily on the first day of the movement.
This political cartoon reveals the ridiculous phenomenon in Hong Kong recently. Cartoonist Harry used a hilarious way to show the common views of the Pro-government, which usually treated with disdain by the public. The first reason is the drawing methods and the font of handwriting are easy to read. Compare to those comics which contains many messy strokes, and also with curly font of writing, Humor is just so simple, fresh, comfortable to read and eye-catching. The drawing lines are clear and obvious, which allow readers to identify the objects that author drew easily. Although the lines are simple, we can still see that the author did focus on the details of the facial expressions of the characters, which makes the comic being more dynamic. Within these seven panels, we can already see tricky, curious, frustrating, satisfied faces and so on. The second reason I like Humor most is the choice of words chosen in the comic are precise and accurate. I hate to read the comics which contain thousands of word in the speech bubbles. In my view, comic is for leisure reading usually, which enable me to get the message from the pictures easily. If the length of the dialogues are too long, it may hinder my interest in reading them. When we look at the pictures of Humor, we can find that the conversation of the characters are short, while it can already express the message the author wants to tell. To me, the hidden message of comics can be big, and let us reflect deeply sometimes, but the most important things that a comic should acquire are to be simple and eye-catching, in order to attract readers to stop their eyes in just few seconds. |
